The formation lap is nearly complete. You gently press the throttle and execute one final left-to-right steering adjustment to keep your tires at optimal operating temperature. This crucial step ensures a blistering exit from Turn 1, giving you the momentum needed to overtake the two Formula cars ahead of you, who are already settled in their grid positions.
It's time to ease off the accelerator and focus on the yellow line marking your grid spot. As you lightly apply the brakes, maximize every millimeter allowed by regulations, aligning your front wing perfectly with the white starting line.
You now tap the paddle shifters located at the base of your steering wheel to disengage the clutch, shifting down from 2nd to 1st gear. Your Formula car remains stationary.
The first red light illuminates on the traffic signal. You've done this countless times; you know exactly what to do. Your right foot gently presses the accelerator pedal.
The second red light comes on, and your engine RPMs hit the limiter.
The third red light activates. The engine roars loudly as you fine-tune your RPMs for a perfect launch.
All five red lights are illuminated. Heat distortion waves rising from the cars ahead signal that every driver is ready to battle.
A quick glance at your steering wheel display confirms everything is go.
