Story

Botanicula opens with an animated sequence setting the stage: a monstrous spider is devouring the life force of the great tree. Five unlikely heroes embark on a mission to save the last Elven Tree seed. This quirky band consists of Poppy Head, Mr. Feather, Miss Mushroom, Mr. Twig, and Mr. Lantern.

Each hero possesses a unique ability: Poppy Head is strong and can knock down hard objects; Mr. Feather can fly to reach high places; Miss Mushroom has a soft, bouncy body; Mr. Twig defies gravity to walk on walls; and Mr. Lantern can hide items in his belly. While not traditional magical heroes, they are a lovable gang of misfits. They cheer over small victories and cower together when facing creatures far larger and fiercer than themselves.

Although these five are your guides, most puzzles are solved by interacting with the myriad of bizarre and imaginative creatures inhabiting the tree. Taking time to "dalliance" with each being is rewarding—you'll witness their unique lives and add them to your creature collection. This reflects the game's namesake, "All Elves." The true protagonists are the countless inhabitants of the Elven Tree itself.
