To receive alerts on your smartphone, start the sensor using the app. Conversely, to receive alerts on the FreeStyle Libre 2 reader, initiate the sensor with the reader. After starting the sensor with the reader, you can still scan it using your smartphone. However, data is not shared between the app and the reader. To ensure comprehensive data collection, scan the sensor with the respective device every 8 hours.
