Unleash the Power of Your Keys: Keymapper for Android!
Keymapper is an open-source app that lets you remap your hardware buttons. What can you remap? Plenty!
- Supported Hardware: Fingerprint gestures (on compatible devices), volume buttons, navigation buttons, Bluetooth and wired keyboards, and buttons on other connected devices.
Important Note: Only hardware buttons are supported. There's no guarantee all buttons will work, and the app isn't designed for game control. Your device manufacturer may also restrict remapping capabilities.
Advanced Remapping:
Keymapper allows you to create complex "triggers" by combining multiple keys from various devices. Each trigger can execute multiple actions. You can configure keys for short presses, long presses, or double presses, and even set conditions ("constraints") to limit when a remapping takes effect.
What Keymapper Can't Remap:
Some buttons are off-limits for remapping:
- Power button
- Bixby button
- Mouse buttons
- Game controller D-pad, thumbsticks, and triggers
Screen-Off Limitation: Key remappings are inactive when the screen is off. This is an Android system limitation, not a Keymapper issue.
Action Possibilities:
Many actions are available, with some requiring root access or specific Android versions. For a complete list, check out the comprehensive user guide: https://docs.keymapper.club/user-guide/actions
Permissions:
Keymapper doesn't require all permissions to function. The app will prompt you if a permission is needed for a specific feature.
- Accessibility Service: Essential for remapping; allows Keymapper to monitor and intercept key events.
- Device Admin: Required to turn off the screen using a custom action.
- Modify System Settings: Needed to adjust brightness and screen rotation.
- Camera: Used for flashlight control.
Heads-up: On some devices, enabling the accessibility service might disable "enhanced data encryption."
