Japanese Mahjong is a captivating game that follows a unique set of rules, distinct from other Mahjong variations. In this game, players interact with the tiles using a Slider located at the bottom of the screen. To select a tile, you move the Slider, and to discard a tile, you tap the Slider.
The objective of Mahjong is to complete a winning hand, which consists of four Melds and one Pair. An example of a winning hand could look like this: [1, 2, 3][6, 6, 6][6, 7, 8][N, N, N][4, 4]. However, certain hands are not valid if they include Chi, Pon, or Open Kan.
It's important to be mindful of specific rules when using Chi and Pon with tiles numbered 1 and 9. In Japanese Mahjong, at least one valid hand is required to win the game. Players can enhance their hand by paying 1,000 points to declare Reach, but this option is not available if Chi, Pon, or Open Kan have been used. A closed hand, one that hasn't used Chi, Pon, or Open Kan, can yield higher points.
Understanding the concept of a Lost Hand is crucial. A Lost Hand occurs when a player is Waiting to win but cannot because they have previously discarded a winning tile. Even with a Lost Hand, self-draw remains a viable option. A key strategy is to ensure that Ron (winning off another player's discard) is never achieved by the opponent with a tile you've discarded. To succeed, you must carefully analyze the other players' discards and strategically plan your wins.
