The rules are explained within the app and can also be found at https://mauking.com/pravila-igre-mau-mau. A brief overview is provided here as a reminder and confirmation that this is indeed the game you're familiar with:
- The game starts with one card on the table and six cards in each player's hand
- The first player to get rid of all their cards wins
- On your turn, play a card that matches the table card's number or suit
- If you don't have a matching card, tap the Draw Pile to take one card. If you still can't play, tap the "Pass" button
- Before playing your second-to-last card, tap the Hand button (like raising your hand), and then play that card. A raised hand icon will appear next to your picture, signaling to others that you have only one card left and could win soon.
Special Cards
- A Jack can be played on any card (except another Jack), regardless of suit. When played, you choose the suit the next player must follow.
- An Eight skips the next player
- A Seven forces the next player to draw 2 cards, unless they also play a Seven, which forces the following player to draw 4 cards, and so on.
- A Queen reverses the current direction of play
- An Ace grants you an extra turn. You cannot win the game with an Ace, as you must play again afterwards—even if it means drawing from the pile.
- The Two of Clubs makes the next player draw 4 cards
