One of the PlayStation Plus free games for May 2025 appears to have been leaked.
Sony has not officially confirmed the titles yet, but rumors suggest the teen slasher horror adventure Until Dawn will be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers in May. Based on the promotional art, it likely refers to the Until Dawn Remaster rather than the 2014 original, though this isn't entirely certain. We will provide confirmation as soon as we have definitive details.
PlayStation Plus is Sony's online gaming service, offering monthly free games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and special discounts for members. Extra and Premium tier subscribers also gain access to an extensive catalog of hundreds of modern and classic games. The monthly free games, however, are available to all members regardless of their subscription level.

As discussed by users on the PlayStation subreddit (via PushSquare), this free offering may be timed to promote the new Until Dawn movie, which premiered last weekend. Our review was not especially positive; we gave it a 5/10 score, stating in IGN's Until Dawn movie review: "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, abandoning the potential of the horror game in favor of a disjointed collection of horror movie tropes."
We gave the 2024 remaster the same 5/10 score, describing it as "an overpriced and underwhelming remake that feels less like an essential horror experience and more like a daylight robbery" in IGN's Until Dawn Remastered review. Supermassive Games' 2015 original fared significantly better, earning a 7.5/10 score from us.
22 games are scheduled to leave the PlayStation Plus catalog next month, including Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last console-playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. Consequently, these two Resistance games will become completely unavailable on modern PlayStation consoles.
