With the recent formation of Reburn, a new studio established by former members of 4A Games Ukraine, the creators behind the acclaimed Metro series, fans have been buzzing with questions about the future of the franchise. Reburn's announcement of their debut project, La Quimera, sparked curiosity and concern among the Metro community. However, 4A Games has swiftly moved to reassure fans, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to expanding the Metro universe.

In a clear and concise official statement, 4A Games addressed any confusion regarding their relationship with Reburn. They extended congratulations to Reburn for La Quimera while firmly reiterating their dedication to the Metro series.

"We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games," the statement read. "Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception."

Beyond the eagerly anticipated Metro sequel, 4A Games hinted at their progress on a brand-new intellectual property (IP). While details about this new project remain under wraps, the studio expressed pride in their Ukrainian roots and the diversity of their team. Approximately 150 out of their over 200 employees are still based in Kyiv, with additional operations in Sliema, Malta, and remote work setups.

4A Games also shed light on the organizational split that led to the creation of Reburn:

"Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn."

Since the release of Metro Exodus in early 2019, the fan base's interest in the series has only grown, fueled by sparse updates. While spin-offs and enhancements like the Enhanced Edition have kept the community engaged, many are eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Dmitry Glukhovsky's dystopian world. Supported by Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), 4A Games initially hinted at a new Metro title in 2019, promising a release within the "202X" timeframe, but then went quiet. Now, it appears that the wait might soon be over.
