Accessing Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria: A Guide

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map, but remained inaccessible until the game's March 2025 update. Here's your guide to unlocking the Deep Woods and locating Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*.

How to Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

To unlock the Deep Woods, you need to break the Fire Seal and utilize the new Dragon’s Breath spell to burn away the obstructing vines. Start by heading to Floor 60 in the mines and placing four items on the Priestess’ Fire Seal altar: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items are scattered between floors 50 and 59, but acquiring the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork with Juniper and Balor.

To help Balor obtain the Sealing Scroll, you must leave the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

Once you've met these requirements, speak with Balor again, and he'll inform you that the scroll will be ready the next day. After obtaining it, you can complete the offering at the altar.

Typically, breaking magic seals results in a few words from the mines' Priestess, unlocking a new biome. However, this time, the plan goes awry. The Priestess urges you to leave before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health diminishes, Caldarus appears in his human form upon your call for help, retreating to his temple in the Deep Woods to regain his strength.

Caldarus then instructs you to find him in the Deep Woods, gifting you the Dragon’s Breath spell. This spell allows you to burn through the vines blocking the entrance to the Deep Woods. Equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu and activate it in front of the entrance to permanently unlock the area, as well as other previously inaccessible parts of the map.

How to Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, head to Caldarus' temple located in the Deep Woods, north of the Eastern Road. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to access the area. Caldarus' exact location is marked on your map, in the northeast corner of the Deep Woods.

Enter the Deep Woods, chop down the stump blocking your path with your axe, and proceed north to reach the temple where Caldarus awaits.

Once the Deep Woods is unlocked, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel there for just 10 Essence, making visits to Caldarus quick and convenient. Even when not physically present, you can still interact with Caldarus through his statue.
