Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming real-time strategy (RTS) title, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite game serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's popular 2020 release, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by the part-time developer, Battledom represents a refined vision of his original concept for Herodom.
Battledom introduces dynamic RTS battle mechanics, enabling players to freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Players directly target enemies and manually control siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations further enhance the gameplay experience.
Players build their armies using in-game currency to recruit units. Initially, these units are equipped with basic weapons and lack armor. However, players can customize their units by equipping them with a range of weapons and armor pieces, each impacting stats such as attack power, range, accuracy, and defense.
These upgrades aren't found through exploration; instead, players must craft them within their village. Resource gathering is key, with wood, leather, and coal among the materials needed to create items at the blacksmith, magician, or other village crafters.
Frenken is widely recognized for Herodom, which boasts a 4.6 App Store rating. This game features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new character customizations, crops, and farm animals.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test by downloading TestFlight. For the latest updates and news, follow Sander Frenken on X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit. You can also explore Frenken's other games on the App Store.
