Treyarch has officially announced the launch date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2: Tuesday, January 28th. Season 1, which began November 14th, will have run for a remarkable 75 days, making it one of the longest seasons in Call of Duty history.
While specifics on Season 2's content remain under wraps, anticipation is high. Black Ops 6, a record-breaking success for Treyarch and Activision (boasting the highest player count in its first 30 days), has seen a recent dip in players. This decline is attributed to ongoing issues like cheating in Ranked Play and persistent server problems. The new season is expected to revitalize the game with fresh content and crucial improvements.
Season 2 Launch Confirmed
Treyarch's January 9th patch notes, while addressing Zombie mode fixes, hinted at upcoming Season 2 content. The studio subsequently confirmed the January 28th launch date. A detailed blog post unveiling the full Season 2 content is expected soon.
Season 1 delivered a massive update, including new multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, and events, alongside a significant overhaul for Warzone. This included a new movement system, weapons, gameplay updates, and the Area-99 Resurgence map. The season also featured the return of popular maps like Nuketown and Hacienda from Black Ops 4.
While details are scarce, Treyarch has previously hinted at more classic map remasters for Black Ops 6. Associate Creative Director Miles Leslie stated in December that no Black Ops map is excluded from potential remastering, though original maps remain a priority.
