Crafting and Using Gems in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Guide

Quick Links

In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, enhancing your character's strength is key, and one effective way to do this is through the use of Gems. These gems provide passive buffs that can significantly aid your performance, especially on higher difficulty levels. You can craft new gems or upgrade those you already have, though the process may seem a bit random at first glance. Below, you'll find detailed guidance on how to craft and utilize gems effectively, as well as tips on increasing your chances of crafting the gems you desire.

How To Craft & Level Up Gems In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Gem crafting in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is facilitated through the use of Pyroxene, which can be done at any Inn or tent within the game. Navigate to your room, and select the second option from the top labeled "Create Gems." Here, you can use your Pyroxene to craft gems at a one-to-one ratio. There are five types of gems you can potentially craft, with each Pyroxene offering a chance to produce any one of these.

Once you've crafted a base gem, it starts at level 1 and can be equipped via the Battle Preparations menu. Subsequent crafts of the same gem type contribute XP to the base gem, allowing it to level up and increase in potency with each level gained. If you're not particular about specific gems, feel free to use all your Pyroxene at once to craft multiple gems, which will help level them up across the board randomly.

For those who have a preference for certain gems, there's a feature called "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" that may activate when crafting a single gem. This feature randomly selects three gems, limiting the crafting possibilities for all Pyroxene used thereafter. You can opt out of this effect by exiting and re-entering the gem crafting menu. While crafting one gem at a time can be time-consuming, it might be worth it if you're hoping to trigger Eyes of the Sacred Bird for a specific gem you're focusing on.

Eyes of the Sacred Bird helps to narrow down the randomness of gem crafting, though it doesn't eliminate it entirely.

The five gems you can craft, along with their passive boosts, are listed below:

Gem NamePassive Boost
Oblivion GemExpands attack range.
Vortex GemBoosts damage to enemies launched into the air.
Scorch GemBoosts damage dealt to enemies with parries.
Wellspring GemRestores health for every 100 enemies defeated.
Ascendance GemActivates a chance to automatically block an attack from an enemy officer.

Where To Get Pyroxene In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Pyroxene can be found scattered across the game's overworld, appearing as distinctive orange crystals protruding from the ground. Interacting with these crystals will grant you one Pyroxene and cause the crystal to vanish. After completing Skirmishes or Battles, some of the Pyroxene in the overworld will respawn, encouraging you to revisit and explore previously explored areas for new Pyroxene. Additionally, you might occasionally receive Pyroxene through letters, which can be read in your room at an Inn or tent.
