Today, May 15, marks an exciting day for Nintendo fans as the company opens its new San Francisco store at 331 Powell Street in Union Square. This marks the second official Nintendo store in the United States, following the renowned Nintendo NY in New York, which underwent a significant renovation and rebranding before its 2016 reopening. The new San Francisco location promises to bring the same magic and excitement to the West Coast.
IGN had the opportunity to visit the San Francisco store and explore what Nintendo has in store for its customers. Additionally, we sat down for an exclusive interview with Nintendo of America president, Doug Bowser, to discuss the timing behind opening their first West Coast store.
During our conversation, we couldn't help but delve into the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on June 5. We questioned Bowser about the availability of the Switch 2 in the U.S. at launch and in the future, the much-discussed Game-Key Cards, and a host of other topics surrounding this new console.
