Feral Interactive Releases Imperium Update for ROME: Total War

The classic strategy game, *ROME: Total War*, has received a significant free update on Android, courtesy of Feral Interactive. The Imperium Update introduces a host of gameplay tweaks, enhanced controls, and quality-of-life improvements, making it an exciting time for fans of this title, which made its Android debut back in 2018. Fans of the standalone expansions, *Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander*, can look forward to these updates rolling out next week as well.

What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?

The Imperium Update integrates some of the most beloved features from Feral's more recent mobile titles, including *Total War: MEDIEVAL II* and *EMPIRE*. Players can now enjoy three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection, enhancing unit command precision during battles. A simple tap and hold is all it takes to move your army, agents, or fleets, replacing the old method of manually dragging paths.

With Positioning Mode, players can fine-tune unit placements effortlessly, while the Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups with its collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode is a game-changer, allowing ranged units to switch to close combat when the situation demands it.

A standout feature of the update is the Command Slowdown, which automatically reduces the game speed when issuing complex orders, making strategic planning more manageable. Additionally, for the first time, *ROME: Total War* on Android (and iPad) now supports keyboard and mouse, offering a more familiar control scheme for some players.

The minimap has been revamped to mirror the one found in *MEDIEVAL II*, boasting smoother zooming and navigation capabilities. A new reset button allows for quick returns to the default view, enhancing user experience.
