Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC Version: Modding, DLC, and Improvements
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi recently discussed the PC version of the game, addressing player interest in mods and potential DLC. Read on for details.

No Immediate DLC Plans, But...
While the development team initially considered adding episodic DLC to the PC release, resource constraints prioritized completing the trilogy's final installment. Hamaguchi stated that adding new content is not currently planned. However, he left the door open, indicating that significant player demand could influence future DLC decisions. "If we receive strong requests from players after the release," he said, "we would like to consider them."
A Message to Modders

The game doesn't officially support mods, but Hamaguchi acknowledged the inevitable modding community interest. He appealed for respectful creations, requesting that modders refrain from offensive or inappropriate content. This is a reasonable request, given the potential for misuse of modding capabilities.
PC Version Enhancements

The PC version boasts graphical improvements, including enhanced lighting and higher-resolution textures, addressing criticisms of the original PS5 version's "uncanny valley" effect on character faces. More powerful PCs will benefit from improved 3D models and textures beyond the PS5's capabilities. Porting the mini-games presented a unique challenge, requiring custom key configurations.

The PC version of FF7 Rebirth launches January 23rd, 2025 on Steam and the Epic Games Store. This highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed PS5 release (February 9th, 2024) promises an enhanced experience for PC gamers. For more information, see our other FF7 Rebirth articles.
