Final Fantasy XVI director, Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), has politely requested fans avoid creating or using "offensive or inappropriate" modifications for the PC release.
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Yoshi-P addressed the upcoming PC launch of Final Fantasy XVI, urging players to maintain a respectful modding environment. While acknowledging the creativity of the modding community, he specifically requested against the creation or installation of "offensive or inappropriate" mods. He declined to specify examples, stating that highlighting certain types of mods might inadvertently encourage their creation.
The interview initially focused on the potential for humorous mods, but Yoshi-P's intervention underscored the importance of avoiding content that could be deemed offensive or inappropriate.
Yoshi-P's experience with previous Final Fantasy titles likely exposes him to a wide range of mods, some of which fall outside acceptable boundaries. Online modding communities, such as Nexusmods and Steam, host a diverse selection of mods, from graphical enhancements to cosmetic crossovers. However, the existence of NSFW and other objectionable content necessitates a call for responsible modding practices. While Yoshi-P refrained from detailing specific examples, mods featuring explicit content clearly fall under the "offensive or inappropriate" category.
Final Fantasy XVI's PC release boasts features like a 240fps frame rate cap and advanced upscaling technologies. Yoshi-P's request aims to ensure a positive and respectful experience for all players.
