The prosperity at Warhammer 40,000 creator, Games Workshop, continues to soar, as the company proudly announced a generous bonus of £20 million (approximately $27 million) for its dedicated employees. This move comes on the heels of an impressive financial year.
For the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, Games Workshop, based in Nottingham, UK, reported a core revenue of £560 million, a significant rise from the previous period's £494.7 million. The licensing revenue also saw a substantial increase, climbing from £31 million to £50 million. The company's core profit reached £210 million, up from £174.8 million, and the licensing profit soared to £45 million from £27 million. These figures culminate in a profit before tax of £255 million, an increase from the £203 million recorded previously.
In appreciation of the staff's pivotal role in achieving these remarkable results, Games Workshop has decided to distribute £20 million among its employees, a step up from last year's £18 million bonus. With an estimated workforce of around 1,500, each employee can anticipate receiving a bonus of £13,333 (approximately $18,000).
Games Workshop's primary business remains the sale of miniatures, which fans meticulously assemble and paint for use in tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000. However, the company is increasingly becoming an IP powerhouse, with significant revenue streams from successful video games such as last year's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and animations, including Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. Notably, Games Workshop and Amazon have solidified a deal for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, promising an exciting array of films and television series. Additionally, Space Marine 3 is currently in development.
Looking ahead, while Games Workshop acknowledges that the record-breaking licensing revenue from this period is unlikely to be replicated in 2025/26, the company remains committed to this core area. The Warhammer 40,000 and broader Warhammer universes continue to expand and thrive, showing no signs of slowing down.
Games Workshop recently celebrated its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, where numerous exciting announcements and trailers were unveiled. Key highlights include the Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and the introduction of Siege mode for Space Marine 2.
