Gears 5 Has a New Message for Fans

Gears 5 players are receiving an in-game message teasing the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day. The game, a prequel focusing on Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago during the initial Locust Horde invasion, was recently revealed at an Xbox showcase.

The "Emergence Begins" message in Gears 5 doesn't offer new details, but serves as a reminder of the game's premise and its Unreal Engine 5 development, promising impressive visuals.

Relive the terrifying events of Emergence Day from Marcus Fenix's perspective in this origin story of a gaming legend. Fourteen years before the events of the original *Gears of War*, Marcus and Dom face the terrifying onslaught of the Locust Horde – grotesque subterranean creatures that threaten humanity's very existence. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, *Gears of War: E-Day* will deliver unparalleled visual fidelity.

While initially speculated for a 2026 release, rumors suggest a potential 2025 launch. The timing of this in-game message, however, is unusual for a AAA title; such announcements typically appear closer to release. This early reminder could indicate a 2025 launch, but equally, it may simply be a post-announcement reminder to fans.

A 2025 release would present a scheduling challenge for Xbox, given the already announced Doom: The Dark Ages, Fable, and South of Midnight. Regardless of the final release date (2025 or 2026), the return of Marcus and Dom, and the series' focus on horror, has long-time fans eagerly anticipating Gears of War: E-Day.
