The popular mobile beat 'em up ARPG, King of Fighters ALLSTAR, will be shutting down on October 30th, 2024. This announcement, made via Netmarble's official forums, comes as a surprise given the game's six-year run and numerous high-profile collaborations.
In-game purchases have already been disabled. According to the developer's statement, a contributing factor to the closure is the depletion of characters available for adaptation from the King of Fighters franchise, although this is likely not the sole reason.

What's Next?
The closure of King of Fighters ALLSTAR sadly continues a trend of long-running mobile live-service games ending this year. This highlights both the challenges of maintaining these games and the difficulties some mobile game developers face in sustaining profitability, despite the platform's popularity.
