MageTrain Is a Fast-Paced Pixel Art Snakelike Roguelike, Out Now on Android

Tidepool Games has just unleashed a thrilling new addition to the mobile gaming scene with their fast-paced pixel art 'snakelike' roguelike, MageTrain, now available on Android. What’s MageTrain Like?

MageTrain ingeniously blends elements of Snake, auto-battlers, and roguelikes into a unique gaming experience. You take control of a line of heroes that trail behind you, much like a snake, each autonomously attacking as you navigate through an arena. Your primary task is to strategically manage the positioning of your heroes, deciding who leads and who supports, as their abilities vary based on their placement within the train.

At launch, MageTrain offers nine distinct heroes, including one who uniquely throws birds. Each hero brings different skills to the table, which change depending on their position in the lineup. As you progress, you'll explore eight varied dungeons, battle against 28 different enemy types, and unlock 30 skills to enhance your team. Along the way, you'll also gather gold and power-ups to bolster your chances of success.

The roguelike nature of MageTrain ensures that no two runs are the same. You'll navigate branching paths, make critical upgrade choices, and strive to survive as long as possible. This structure echoes the dynamic gameplay found in titles like Slay the Spire or FTL, where levels are not fixed, and there's no option to save your progress mid-run. A single misstep, whether it's crashing into an obstacle or being overrun by enemies, means starting over from scratch.
