Square Enix Reveals NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel

The anniversary celebration featured multiple announcements including special projects and events. During the April 19 livestream, Square Enix introduced an online Special Novel titled [U]ndecided Option.

The episodic novel will receive three installments, with the first already available. Subsequent chapters arrive on April 25 and May 2. The intriguing premise describes "A certain 'servant' encountering a mysterious boy with an enigmatic aura."

Square Enix simultaneously launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website serving as the hub for the online novel and future celebration activities.

Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More

A special exhibition coming to Sunshine City in Ikebukuro will showcase new artwork featuring protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Ticket details will be announced later.

The NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 expands with additional Osaka performances on July 25-26 and Tokyo shows August 2-3. Tickets are currently available via lottery through the concert's official site.

Re[in]carnation Developer Blog

Despite shutting down in April 2024, NieR's first mobile title Re[in]carnation will receive a monthly developer blog starting April 28. These posts will detail the game's development process throughout 2024.

The surprise announcement has sparked speculation about potential sequels or remakes, though Square Enix has not confirmed any plans. The livestream concluded with a 20-minute musical performance celebrating NieR's iconic soundtrack.
