Nintendo Unveils System to Hide Game Cards

Nintendo's latest Switch update introduces the new Virtual Game Card (VGC) system, now live and offering users enhanced privacy options. If you're keen on keeping your game collection discreet, you can now hide your Virtual Game Cards from prying eyes. As demonstrated by a user on X/Twitter, you have the ability to conceal games from your acquired list on the Nintendo VGC portal, ensuring that others won't see what you've got tucked away in your digital library.

I personally tested this feature and successfully hid titles such as Suikoden I&II HD Remaster and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. While these games still show up on your OLED Switch if they're installed or loaded, they vanish from your list once uninstalled. This gives you a level of control over what others might see when they peek at your game collection.

Nintendo's new Virtual Game Card system is live now on the Switch ahead of the Switch 2's launch.

To manage your hidden games, navigate to the "Redownload Software" section in your games list. If you can't find a game, head over to the "Can't Find Software?" section and log into your Nintendo account to view your concealed titles. On the Nintendo website, these hidden games are neatly tucked away in a separate folder accessible via the "Can't Find Software?" option.

This feature might be particularly useful if you're sharing your console and want to restrict access to certain games like Mortal Kombat or Doom, functioning as a parental control tool. Or perhaps you have some games in your Switch catalog that you'd prefer to keep under wraps during social gatherings. Either way, the ability to hide your Virtual Game Cards offers a new layer of privacy.

Alongside the VGC system, the latest update brings redesigned icons, a system transfer feature for the upcoming Switch 2, and the closure of a popular game-sharing loophole. For a deeper dive into the new Nintendo Switch firmware update, check out the detailed information available [ttpp].
