Pokémon NPCs Dog Playtesters in Hilarious Gameplay Clip

A Pokémon player is experiencing unexpected fame – or perhaps infamy – thanks to two overly enthusiastic NPCs who won't stop calling. A short video shows the player trapped, their in-game phone incessantly ringing.

In Pokémon Gold and Silver, players can collect phone numbers from certain NPCs, leading to occasional calls with updates or rematch offers. However, this player's game has malfunctioned, resulting in a never-ending barrage of calls.

Pokémon enthusiast FodderWadder posted a clip showing them cornered in a Pokémon Center. First, Wade the Bug Catcher calls, recounting his Caterpie training adventures. Before the player can react, Youngster Joey rings, requesting a rematch on Route 30.

The incessant calls continue. Joey's call repeats, immediately followed by another from Wade. This cycle relentlessly repeats, trapping the player.

The reason for this call-bombardment remains unclear. While Youngster Joey's repetitive calls are infamous, this level of persistence is unusual. FodderWadder suspects a save file glitch. Other players find the situation humorous, suggesting the NPCs are just overly friendly.

Although players can delete numbers, the game automatically answers calls. FodderWadder eventually escaped, but the process proved challenging, requiring a strategic moment to access the menu and delete the numbers. The experience has understandably made them hesitant to add any new contacts.
