Is the second GTA 6 trailer almost too impressive? Some skeptics have questioned the fine print at the end of the video that confirmed all footage was recorded on PlayStation 5, speculating it could have used a PS5 Pro or a PC. Rockstar, however, insists otherwise.
In a recent social media post, the developer confirmed that GTA 6 Trailer 2 was captured “entirely in-game” on a standard PS5. Not only that, but they revealed it features an even mix of gameplay and cinematic sequences.
Here’s Rockstar’s complete statement:
Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.
This makes GTA 6 all the more remarkable. The level of detail in Trailer 2 is extraordinary—and we now know for sure it’s running on hardware that’s already five years old. By the time GTA 6 launches on May 26, 2026, the PS5 will be more than five and a half years old.
Once again, Rockstar’s development team is showcasing their technical wizardry. But their mention of gameplay in the trailer also raises questions: exactly which segments are gameplay? One moment, already highlighted by the GTA 6 community, appears to shift from a cutscene to gameplay as Jason enters his apartment.
In this part is the gameplay about to start?
