Excitement is building as EA gears up to unveil its highly anticipated Star Wars turn-based tactics game at Star Wars Celebration 2025. This untitled project, announced in early 2022, is being crafted by Bit Reactor, a studio formed by veterans from Firaxis Games, renowned for their work on the XCOM series. Collaborating closely with Star Wars Jedi's Respawn Entertainment, Bit Reactor is set to introduce the game to fans on April 19, during a live panel featuring key members from Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games, as highlighted on the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule.
While details about the game's setting and gameplay remain under wraps, the involvement of XCOM's former developers suggests a thrilling strategic experience infused with the rich lore of the Star Wars universe. Fans eagerly await to see how this game will unfold.
Meanwhile, Respawn Entertainment continues its work on the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series, though it won't be making an appearance at this year's Celebration. The studio had also been developing another Star Wars project, a first-person shooter rumored to feature a Mandalorian protagonist, but this was canceled amidst a significant restructuring at EA that led to the loss of around 670 jobs. Additionally, Respawn recently canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter project, resulting in further layoffs.
Star Wars Celebration 2025 promises more than just gaming reveals. Attendees can look forward to a sneak peek at the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, set for release in May 2026, and a first look at Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, adding to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the event.
