Short Circuit Studio has just rolled out an exciting new update for their freshly launched settlement builder, TownsFolk. Dubbed "Shadows and Fortune," this update perfectly aligns with the game's darker, pixel-art aesthetic, introducing a slew of new mechanics that will deepen your gaming experience.
Even though TownsFolk is newly launched, the studio isn't holding back on adding substantial depth to the game. The "Shadows and Fortune" update brings new buildings and challenges that will refresh your gameplay. You'll encounter roaming Barbarians that ramp up the tension in both your campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Additionally, eight new structures are now available: the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer.
Water tiles are getting a splash of excitement with the introduction of the rare Whale, enhancing the aquatic elements of your town. Special Locations like ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks add an extra layer of unpredictability to your exploration.

To keep everything straight, there's a handy Compendium that serves as an in-game encyclopedia, helping you keep track of all the new additions. The Exploration System has been revamped, and you can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes to suit your play style.
