Walmart+ Gets Early Pokémon Black Bolt and White Flare Pre-orders

To combat frequent sell-outs and scalping in the Pokémon TCG community, Walmart is offering early access to the White Flare & Black Bolt sets exclusively to paid Walmart+ members.

Preorders for a range of standard TCG products from the White Flare and Black Bolt expansions, such as Elite Trainer Boxes, Poster Collection Boxes, and Booster Bundles, will launch on June 18 at 9 PM ET. For the initial launch period, only active, paid Walmart+ members will be able to secure preorders while supplies last.

Any remaining stock after the early-access period will then become available to all shoppers. Although Walmart+ offers a 30-day trial, the product pages for early-access items, such as the $60 Black Bolt Elite Trainer Box, explicitly state that only paid members are eligible to preorder during the exclusive window.

A standard Walmart+ membership costs $12.95 per month or $98 per year, which averages out to $8.17 per month.

While requiring a subscription for better preorder access can be frustrating, Walmart+ offers several additional perks. These include free delivery with no minimum order, a complimentary Paramount+ membership, fuel and Burger King discounts, free tire repair, free pharmacy delivery, and more.

An initial hurdle for those wanting immediate early access is that the sign-up process primarily promotes the 30-day free trial. However, you can bypass this by starting the trial, canceling it, and then immediately resubscribing as a paid member.

Students and recent graduates are eligible for a 50% discount, bringing the cost down to $6.49 per month or $49 per year, with all the same benefits as a standard membership. Verification typically involves using a valid student email address.

There are also reports of limited-time offers for former Walmart+ members to rejoin for just $1, making early access to White Flare and Black Bolt preorders, along with all the other membership benefits, an exceptional deal.
