The Battle of Polytopia has spiced up its gameplay with the introduction of Weekly Challenges, offering a new competitive edge to this beloved 4X strategy game. Dive into this feature to test your strategic prowess against other players worldwide.
Previously, the game thrived on randomness, with diverse enemies, resources, and maps ensuring every session was unique. However, the latest free update brings a more structured approach to competition.
Each week, players face the same map, tribe, and gameplay conditions, leveling the playing field. The challenge? Achieve the highest possible score within 20 turns. You can attempt this challenge once per day, allowing up to seven tries per week.
One of the exciting aspects of the Weekly Challenges is the opportunity to play as tribes you might not yet own. The game boasts 16 tribes in total—four come with the base game, while the other twelve can be purchased for $1-4 each. In this mode, everyone competes with the same tribe, regardless of ownership.

Will these Weekly Challenges inject more excitement into The Battle of Polytopia? I believe they will. Additionally, the new mode introduces a League system where everyone starts in the Entry League. Your performance each week determines whether you move up or down. The top third of players ascend to higher leagues, the bottom third descend, and the middle group remains in place.
As you progress through the leagues, the difficulty level scales accordingly. Starting with Easy AI in the Entry League, you'll face increasingly challenging Crazy difficulty bots by the time you reach the Gold League. If you miss a week, you won't be demoted, but your ranking will adjust based on the performance of other players.
