Black Myth: Wukong Breached Ahead of ReleaseProducer Advises Players to Prevent Further Circulation of Breached Content
With less than a week until the release of Black Myth: Wukong, breached content has begun spreading online. The trending hashtag "Black Myth Wukong Breach" reportedly gained traction on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, on Wednesday after videos showcasing unreleased game content were posted online.
Following the breach, producer Feng Ji took to Weibo to address fans and the spoilers. In his post (translated via machine translation), Feng explained that spoilers can dampen the thrilling sense of discovery and role-playing that the game offers. Black Myth Wukong's allure relies on players' "curiosity," the producer added.
Feng also urged players to avoid ruining this element of surprise for others, saying that fans must take the initiative to avoid viewing and sharing the breached content. "If a friend around you clearly states that he doesn't want to be spoiled about the game, please help protect them." He added, "I am still confident that no matter how much breached content you have seen in advance, [Black Myth: Wukong] will still deliver on the unique experiences it has in store."
The game is now available for pre-order and is scheduled to launch on August 20, 2024, at 10 AM UTC+8 on PS5, Steam, Epic Games Store, and WeGame.
