Respawn Entertainment's development team has released a video detailing upcoming updates for Apex Legends. The footage primarily addressed the player matchmaking system and steps being taken to address unfair play (not limited to cheating). Significant improvements are on the way for both areas, with the studio providing a glimpse into the specifics.
For instance, matchmaking will now show skill levels in unranked matches, along with optimizations to reduce queue waiting periods. Respawn is also actively investigating prevailing concerns such as ranked scoring adjustments and limitations on pre-made teams in competitive play.
On the anti-cheat front, the team is targeting coordinated teaming. Initial results from new algorithms have already reduced such occurrences. They are also developing a notification feature to alert players when reports they filed lead to penalties. The battle against bots continues as well, with a machine learning model in the works designed to identify automated accounts in matches and hinder their ongoing evolution.
The Apex Legends developers have committed to maintaining open communication with the player base. Their objective is to preserve the game's competitive integrity and entertainment value, a vision Respawn Entertainment is dedicated to upholding.
