Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

The iconic "Fall of Tristram" event in Diablo 3 continues to captivate fans, but it's set to conclude on February 1. Despite the community's desire for an extended run, Blizzard's community manager, pezradar, has clarified that extending the event is currently unfeasible. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," he stated, addressing the technical limitations preventing any prolongation.

In addition to the event news, pezradar also shed light on the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted weekend plans for some enthusiasts. "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time," he explained. The delay stems from the need for new code to ensure seamless transitions between seasons after issues with the automatic scheduler prematurely ended Season 33 in early January. "The extra time allows us to implement and test the new code, and ensure that players' progress is transferred smoothly from their accounts," pezradar added. He also acknowledged the need for improved communication with players in the future, a point the team is actively considering.

In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, an innovative free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing begins on January 25 for European players, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete shared, "We've blended the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games." Drawing inspiration from Diablo and Escape from Tarkov, Project Pantheon promises a unique gaming experience where players assume the role of a messenger of Death, striving to restore order in a devastated world.
