Idris Elba envisions a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film with Keanu Reeves

Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has expressed his strong desire for a live-action adaptation of the game, starring himself and Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (where he and Reeves co-star), Elba revealed his excitement at the prospect.

Elba stated that a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action film featuring his character, Solomon Reed, and Reeves' iconic Johnny Silverhand would be incredible. He enthusiastically described the potential onscreen chemistry as "Whoa."

This isn't merely wishful thinking. Variety reported in October 2023 that CD Projekt Red (CDPR) is indeed developing a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project in collaboration with Anonymous Content. While updates have been scarce since the announcement, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the live-action The Witcher series suggests a Cyberpunk live-action adaptation is a strong possibility.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Expands its Universe
Beyond the live-action possibility, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. A prequel manga, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, is now available in several languages, offering a glimpse into the lives of Rebecca and Pilar before joining Maine's crew. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also slated for 2025. And, excitingly, CDPR has hinted at a new Cyberpunk 2077 animated series in the works.
