Dune: Awakening's open beta weekend concluded with a notable discovery: a game-breaking exploit that allows players to keep their enemies stunned indefinitely. This PvP exploit, known as the "stunlock exploit," has sparked significant interest and concern among the game's community. Here's a detailed look at what happened and what Funcom, the game's developer, is planning to do about it.

During the open beta weekend, players were given access to the first 20-25 hours of Dune: Awakening, along with other features. It was during Funcom's Global LAN Party livestream on May 10 that players stumbled upon the exploit. The exploit involves using quick knife attacks repeatedly when an opponent's stamina is depleted, causing the target to be stuck in a continuous stagger state, unable to defend themselves, use abilities, or escape.
This issue gained widespread attention when popular streamers Tyler1 and Shroud showcased the exploit during their livestreams of the game, highlighting the severity of the problem to a broader audience.

Funcom's developers, who were present during the Global LAN Party livestream, quickly acknowledged the stunlock exploit. Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley assured the community that the issue would be resolved before the game's official launch.
Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." The open beta weekend provided the developers with valuable feedback and praise, which they are using to optimize the game ahead of its release.
Dune: Awakening is scheduled to launch on June 10, 2025, for PC, with releases for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to follow at a later, yet-to-be-announced date. For the latest updates and more information about the game, be sure to check out our dedicated article below!
