Square Enix has reignited Final Fantasy 9 remake rumors with latest updates to their 25th anniversary website. Updated profiles featuring main characters Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, and Steiner have sparked renewed speculation about an impending remake.

The anniversary website launched earlier this year initially fueled remake theories. Suspicion deepened when Square Enix tweeted a memorable Vivi quote shortly afterward.

The newest update highlights four core characters with interactive icons. Each reveals brief character summaries accompanied by fresh artwork from Toshiyuki Itahana, FF9's original character designer whose portfolio includes Crystal Chronicles and Chocobo spin-offs.

While nothing's confirmed, Square Enix's extensive anniversary efforts have fans convinced a major announcement looms. Supporters remain hopeful but must await official word regarding a possible remake.

Anniversary Collectibles Now Available

Square Enix has expanded their anniversary merchandise lineup with premium collectibles including Garnet's signature necklace, a wearable Vivi hat replica, and acrylic character stands.

Garnet's necklace preorders are currently open with estimated November 15 delivery (¥38,500/~$260). Vivi's functional hat replica ships September 6 (¥17,600/~$120).

The exclusive acrylic stand collection features eight mystery designs sold in blind boxes. Fans won't know which character they receive until opening.

With significant anniversary activities underway, fans increasingly believe an FF9 remake seems inevitable. Though Square Enix remains silent, supporters continue anticipating their return to Gaia.
