First-Ever Mobile Game Based on Made in Abyss Universe Announced

Avex Pictures has exciting news for fans of the captivating world of Made in Abyss—the beloved series is expanding into the realm of mobile gaming with a new title, Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey. This announcement comes alongside the launch of the game's official X account, which is set to provide updates as the release date approaches.

While details about the gameplay are currently sparse, it's confirmed that Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey will be a casual mobile game, available initially on Android and iOS platforms. At the moment, the game is slated for release only in Japan, with no information yet on a potential global rollout.

Dived into the Abyss Yet?

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Made in Abyss originated as a manga in 2012, crafted by Akihito Tsukushi and serialized on Web Comic Gamma. The story follows Riko, a young orphan residing in the town of Orth, which encircles a vast vertical chasm known as the Abyss. This mysterious pit is teeming with ancient technology, bizarre creatures, and a chilling mystery that engulfs those who dare to explore its depths. Riko, inspired by her mother Lyza—a legendary White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished in the Abyss—embarks on a perilous journey.

Along her way, Riko encounters Reg, a half-robot boy with amnesia. Together, they delve deeper into the Abyss, fully aware that their journey might be a one-way trip. The manga's gripping narrative was later adapted into an anime in 2017, followed by a sequel film, Dawn of the Deep Soul, released in Japan in 2020. Additionally, in 2022, Chime Corporation brought the story to consoles and PCs with the RPG, Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness.
