The new GTA 6 trailer has arrived, and if you haven't seen our analysis yet, we've uncovered all the hidden details and secrets it contains. Unfortunately, we still have to wait until May 26, 2026, to finally experience the story of Lucia and Jason firsthand. So, while we wait, why not revisit and rank all the Rockstar games we've enjoyed over the years?
Since its founding in 1998, Rockstar has developed and released more than 30 titles, creating iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which one reigns supreme? For this list, we're focusing strictly on games developed by Rockstar, not just published by them, so you won't see entries like L.A. Noire or Max Payne 2. I've taken a shot at ranking them using one of our IGN Tier Lists, based purely on my personal enjoyment over time. Check out my tier list below:

Red Dead Redemption 2 is my personal all-time favorite game, making it an easy S-tier choice. It's joined, perhaps unsurprisingly, by its predecessor and Grand Theft Auto V—both pioneers of the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a special fondness for Max Payne 3's bullet-time ballet and GTA San Andreas (a game I definitely played when I was far too young). At the bottom in D-tier, you'll find titles like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!, games that virtually no one in their right mind is eager to play.
Don't agree with my rankings? Think Vice City tops GTA IV? Well, why not create your own tier list right here? You can compare your S, A, B, C, and D tier picks with the entire IGN community.
With only two trailers released so far, where do you predict GTA 6 will ultimately rank among Rockstar's classics? Share your thoughts in the comments, along with the reasoning behind your personal game rankings.
