The visionary behind one of gaming's most influential platforms shared details about this transition in today's announcement. Scott confirms his official departure following extensive deliberations, marking the end of an era for the platform he nurtured from its inception.

While remaining discreet about operational specifics, the announcement introduces two successors: Victor (known as Foledinho) and Marinus (alias Rapsak), whose profiles now carry the "Site Owner" designation. This leadership transition ushers in a new chapter for Nexus Mods while granting Scott a well-deserved respite.

"The weight of shepherding this community became unsustainable," Scott reflected. "The constant pressure manifested in anxiety and health concerns, affecting both myself and the team. Passing the torch ensures Nexus Mods can flourish under fresh leadership while maintaining the vision our community deserves."

What began as a passion project for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind in Scott's bedroom evolved into a gaming institution. According to Nexus Mods' About Us section, the platform now serves 63.4 million users with 16.8 billion downloads, ranking among the UK's most visited websites globally.

Scott's two-decade commitment required constant availability, with the creator being "on call every single day." While his reduced involvement may bring operational adjustments, Scott assures the community these changes aim to preserve rather than disrupt the platform's core mission.

"This transition represents what I should have done earlier – prioritizing self-care," Scott noted. "The team has progressively assumed more responsibilities in recent years, with the site thriving more than ever. Now we're formalizing this evolution."

The restructuring emphasizes long-term sustainability without altering current operations. Scott reaffirms Nexus Mods' foundational principle: "Our community-first approach and commitment to mod authors remain non-negotiable."

Though stepping back from daily management, Scott plans to maintain engagement through Mod Author Discord channels and forums while supporting the 40-person team during this transition period.
