Legendary Sumi-E are unique, ancient animal paintings that characters Naoe or Yasuke can create while exploring the wilderness. These artistic opportunities are marked by a painting icon that appears on your compass and map when you're close. To capture these moments, crouch and stealthily approach the subject. Once near, hold L2/LT to complete the painting. However, locating the legendary Sumi-E is trickier as they do not appear on the map, and their availability depends on the season and time of day. Legendary Tanuki – Summer, Daytime

To find the Legendary Tanuki Sumi-E, travel to the Omi region during the summer, specifically during the day. Head to the Shimmering Fields, near the Shigaraki Hamlet. You'll know you're in the right spot when you see Tanuki statues around. Follow the path upward to a clearing where you'll find the legendary Tanuki. Approach carefully and complete your painting.

Legendary Grey Heron – Winter, Daytime

Locate the Grey Heron in the Wakasa region, at Lake Suigetsu, during winter daytime. Head to the cluster of islands west of the lake. Approach the marked area on foot to avoid startling the heron. Once there, crouch and slowly move in to capture this serene moment in your Sumi-E.

Legendary Macaque – All Seasons, Nighttime

The Macaque can be found in the Yamashiro region, specifically in the Little Leaf Glade sub-region near the Sarumaru Shrine. Visit at night, climb the stairs to the top, and you'll find the three wise monkeys. Capture this nocturnal scene in your Sumi-E.

Legendary Silver Fox – Autumn, Nighttime

The Silver Fox appears at night during autumn in the Kii region, within the Nakahechi Route sub-region. Visit the Kamimisu Inari Shrine, which features fox statues, and approach the cliff's edge to find and paint this elusive creature.

Legendary Deer – Spring, Nighttime

To capture the Deer, head to the Yamato region during spring nighttime. Fast-travel to the Mountain Blossom Temple in the Yoshino sub-region and then move eastward along the path to reach Sakura Meadows. Climb the slopes to a clearing where you'll find the legendary Deer ready for your Sumi-E.

Remember, even when you're at the correct location and time, the animals may not always spawn. If you encounter this issue, try fast-traveling to a nearby location and returning to see if the animal appears. With perseverance, you'll soon complete your legendary Sumi-E collection.
