A new free mobile game is now available on the Epic Games Store—this time, it’s Machinarium. You can claim it for free from August 28th to September 4th, 2025, and it’s accessible to Android users around the world.
Machinarium is a critically acclaimed point-and-click adventure celebrated for its hand-drawn art and wordless narrative. Originally released in 2009, it was developed by Amanita Design, the same studio behind Samorost, Botanicula, and Chuchel.
Machinarium follows Josef, a small dome-headed robot who begins his journey after being discarded in a scrapyard. Once rebuilt, he sets off for Machinarium, a rusted, legendary metropolis of robots teeming with eccentric characters.
Josef soon uncovers the Black Cap Brotherhood—a gang of malicious robots scheming chaos—and finds himself falsely imprisoned. What starts as a simple escape soon turns into a grand mission to save the city’s leader, rescue his girlfriend Berta, and stop the Brotherhood’s sinister plans.
The game offers a rich mix of brain-teasing puzzles, logic challenges, mini-games, and quirky tasks—like crafting Josef a brand-new hat. Instead of spoken dialogue, characters express themselves through comic-style thought bubbles and expressive animations.
Every scene and character was meticulously hand-drawn in 2D, paired with an atmospheric soundtrack by Floex, who also composed the music for Samorost 2.
If you missed Machinarium when it first launched, this is your perfect chance. Or if you’re seeking a classic indie adventure game to try at no cost, here’s your opportunity. Explore the game on the official app.
Next up, more exciting titles await on the Epic Games Store mobile app. Until they’re offered as free games, don’t miss our earlier feature on Side-Scrolling Beat ‘Em Up, Hero Stickman.
