Out June 5
Unlike many video games today, Mario Kart World comes in a single edition. You can purchase it standalone for $79.99 or opt for the bundle with the Nintendo Switch 2 console for $499.99.

Choosing the Switch 2 bundle with Super Mario Kart World saves you $30 compared to buying the console and game separately. Keep in mind that the bundle includes a digital copy of the game, so you won't receive a physical cartridge or game box. If owning a physical copy is important to you, consider the extra $30 as a worthwhile investment.
When purchased separately, Mario Kart World is priced at $79.99, which is $10 more than the standard price for AAA PlayStation and Xbox games of this generation. While I'm not thrilled about the increase in game prices across generations, it's clear that the cost of game development has risen significantly. I'm hopeful that the expansive nature of Mario Kart World justifies this price point.
Mario Kart World is poised to be the most ambitious Mario Kart game to date, featuring an open-world environment akin to the Forza Horizon series. In the Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from the end of one track directly to the start of another after completing a race.
The game's tracks dynamically change based on weather conditions and the time of day, impacting your visibility and traction. You're free to venture off the designated paths and explore virtually everywhere, as stated by Nintendo. Each race accommodates up to 24 drivers, surpassing the participant count of any previous Mario Kart game.
A new mode, Knockout Tour, challenges you to race across the entire open world, passing through checkpoints with specific placement requirements. Falling short of these requirements at any checkpoint results in your elimination from the race.
For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode allows you to explore the world at your leisure, either solo or with friends. You can even take photos to capture your adventures.
More details about Mario Kart World will be unveiled during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview for more insights.
