If you had any doubt that *Rune Slayer* isn’t an MMORPG, here’s your proof: it has fishing. And as we all know, if a game has fishing, it’s officially an MMORPG. Kidding aside, you’re here to learn how fishing works in *Rune Slayer*, and we’re here to help. Yeah, we had trouble with this, too, but we eventually figured it out and are happy to tell you how to catch fish in *Rune Slayer*. Spoiler Alert: It definitely isn’t as intuitive as in *Fisch*.

Here’s the twist: to catch these "fish," you'll need a fishing rod and some bait/tackle. Conveniently, Simon the Fisherman is your go-to vendor for these items.

But here’s the catch: you won’t be able to catch any "fish" unless you have at least 5 bait items. We tried with just one Worm and caught nothing. Once we had 5 Worms in our inventory, the fish started biting. We recommend placing the Worms in your hotbar to easily keep track of your bait count. Once you have your gear and bait, you’re ready to move on to the next step.

Hold M1 to cast your line into a body of water (the pier next to Simon the Fisherman is a good spot).
Now, keep an eye on the bobber. When you see it make one or two ripples, click M1 again to reel in your catch. It’s that simple.
However, this method isn’t foolproof. More often than not, you won’t catch anything. Sometimes, you’ll reel in junk instead of fish, but the good news is Simon counts junk as a "fish"—hence the earlier quotation marks.
So, your goal is to cast your line, wait for the ripples, hit M1, and reel in anything five times. We managed to catch only two actual fish, while the rest were Old Cups.

That’s all there is to it. Have fun catching fish in Rune Slayer. If you need more help, check out our The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Rune Slayer.
