New Mercenary Troops System Added to Age of Empires Mobile

Ever dreamed of witnessing Joan of Arc leading Roman Centurions into battle or Hannibal Barca deploying Japanese Samurai to conquer Rome? With the latest update to Age of Empires Mobile, you can make those historical mashups a reality thanks to the new Mercenary Troops system.

Once you hit level 26, you'll unlock the Mercenary Camp, a new structure that lets you contract and recruit powerful units typically unavailable to your faction. Not only can you enlist these warriors, but you'll also have the opportunity to unlock and upgrade technology to enhance their capabilities. Plus, you can snag your first mercenaries for free through an event that's currently live.

The Mercenary units you'll encounter include Byzantine Cataphracts, Swiss Pikemen, Persian Immortals, Indian Battle Elephants, Roman Centurions, Egyptian Chariot Archers, Japanese Samurai, and Korean Archers. Each of these units comes with tech upgrades that boost their already impressive battlefield prowess.

**Blood Money** The introduction of the Mercenary troops system evokes memories of Total War, where I fondly recall overwhelming opponents with mercenaries in games like Rome: Total War and Medieval II. However, opinions on this new feature might be divided, as some might argue it disrupts the game's balance.
