Konami Hints at Potential Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake and Next-Gen Ports

With the anticipated release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, speculation is rife about the inclusion of a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots remake. Konami has fueled these rumors, offering a carefully worded response to inquiries regarding a possible PS5, Xbox, and PC release.

In a recent interview with IGN, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura acknowledged the considerable fan interest in bringing MGS4 to modern platforms. While he didn't confirm any concrete plans, his comments strongly suggest the possibility of an MGS4 remake or port within Master Collection Vol. 2. Okamura stated that Konami is "internally concerned about what we should be doing for the future of the series," leaving the door open for future announcements.

The release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, featuring remastered versions of the first three games for next-gen consoles and PC, has further fueled expectations. Last year, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline, adding to the mounting evidence. IGN also reported on these placeholders, suggesting their inclusion in Vol. 2.
Adding to the intrigue, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in a project potentially related to MGS4 on social media.
While Konami remains officially silent on the contents of Master Collection Vol. 2, the accumulating evidence strongly suggests that MGS4 may finally be playable outside of the PS3. Fans eagerly await official confirmation.
