The long-awaited details about Nintendo's highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 have finally been unveiled, and the specs are turning out to be more impressive than many had anticipated. The new console supports up to 120fps and can reach 4K resolution when docked, promising a significant leap in gaming performance.

During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased a variety of features that the new system brings to the table. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to its predecessor, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. This enhanced screen supports a 1080p resolution in handheld mode at up to 120fps and features an LCD panel with HDR support. When docked, it can display up to 4K resolution with HDR, enhancing the visual experience on larger screens.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers have been upgraded as well, now featuring magnetic connections and a release button on the back for easy detachment. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, making them more comfortable for horizontal play, and the left and right analog sticks have been enlarged for better control. A notable addition is the official reveal of mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers, adding a new dimension to gameplay.

The handheld mode of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and support for 3D audio in compatible games, elevating the audio experience. The console also features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, allowing for varied viewing angles. Additionally, a top USB port has been added, which can be used for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.
