The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered breathes new life into one of Bethesda's landmark titles, enhancing visuals, gameplay mechanics, and more. Yet, in a nod to the original's charm, the team at Virtuos has preserved one of its most iconic moments. Most veteran Elder Scrolls fans are well-acquainted with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf found in the Temple of the One in the Imperial City. When Oblivion first launched for PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, it became evident that Tandilwe herself could benefit from some speech training. Her voice line famously includes a recording of actress Linda Kenyon attempting another take, which was mistakenly left in the game.

As players embarked on their journey through a rejuvenated Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to discover how faithful the ground-up remaster would be. While numerous environments, character models, and items have received a stunning overhaul, fans have been delighted to find that many of the quirks that defined the 2006 Oblivion remain untouched. Tandilwe's well-known blooper, still lacking subtitles, is one such cherished moment that fans have celebrated seeing again.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon acknowledged the infamous Oblivion blooper, humorously stating, "It wasn't my fault!"

As thousands of players dive into The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, discussions abound on whether this Bethesda re-release leans more towards a remake than a remaster. Yet, many are thrilled to see that much of the original game's endearing jank remains intact. This aspect, which both Bethesda and Virtuos were committed to preserving, has been warmly received by both new and returning players alike.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion surprised fans with its launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S yesterday. For those interested in the community's efforts, the modding community rallied to release numerous mods just hours after the remaster's announcement. Additionally, click here to explore why one of the original designers views the remaster as akin to "Oblivion 2.0."
