The iconic creature returns: the teaser trailer for the sci-fi action sequel Predator: Badlands has just been released online.
In the preview below, we’re introduced to Elle Fanning’s character, a resident of a perilous future planet. The Predator she encounters stands out as distinctly different, possibly even taking the role of the protagonist. “The director of Prey invites you to a realm of intense struggle,” the teaser declares.
Beyond this reimagined Predator, there are subtle connections to the Alien universe, fueling speculation that Badlands might lay the groundwork for a new Aliens vs. Predator film. Fanning’s character exhibits a Weyland Yutani-inspired visual effect in her eyes, similar to Andy’s in Alien: Romulus, hinting she could be a synthetic. A damaged vehicle also displays the Weyland Yutani logo, the notorious megacorporation central to the Alien saga.

Predator: Badlands was announced to be in development in February 2024, with its release date confirmed in October of the same year. The trailer premiered exclusively at CinemaCon earlier this month, marking the first public glimpse of the film’s offerings.
At CinemaCon, 20th Century Studios shared an official synopsis: “On a distant planet in the future, a young Predator, exiled from his clan, forms an unexpected alliance with Thia, embarking on a dangerous quest for the ultimate foe.”
“This film does something entirely new,” Fanning told reporters and industry professionals at CinemaCon. “My character isn’t the one being hunted. Instead, she joins forces with the Predator, revealing him in a fresh perspective. I’ll leave it at that!”
Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, known for 10 Cloverfield Lane and the Predator prequel Prey, the film features a script co-written with Patrick Aison. Predator: Badlands is slated to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
