Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 introduces Ultron as a playable hero alongside exciting new features. Discover what awaits players in this mid-season update.
The Season 2.5 update will bring Ultron as a new playable Strategist character. NetEase Games confirmed via Twitter on May 23 that Ultron will become available on May 30 following maintenance updates.
According to Marvel Rivals' Dev Vision Vol. 06, Ultron stands out as a flying Strategist capable of consistent team healing. His unique weapon system delivers three low-damage attacks followed by a powerful finishing strike with unlimited range. Ultron deploys healing drones that can provide burst healing and overheal effects to allies, while his Ultimate combines area damage with team restoration.

Season 2.5 will introduce premium cosmetics including Ultron's X-Tron skin (inspired by his Cerebro takeover) and Groot's Yggroot Norse mythology skin. Pricing and bundle details remain undisclosed at this time.
The update goes live on May 30 after a scheduled 2-3 hour maintenance window starting at 2 AM PDT / 9 AM UTC. Significant balance changes will address the current "dive meta," adjusting heroes like Captain America (health reduction), Doctor Strange (damage buff), and Emma Frost (range increase).
Players will battle across the new Arrako map, continuing the narrative from Hellfire Gala Krakoa. The Cerebro Database II event returns, offering the free Hawkeye - Binary Arrow costume through mission completion between May 30 and June 27.

Season 2.5 introduces 6 new team-up combinations while removing 4 existing ones. Notable additions include Rocket Raccoon/Peni Parker's "Rocket Network" and Iron Man/Ultron's "Stark Protocol." The community-favorite "Jeff-Nado" with Jeff and Storm also makes its return.
On June 6, a limited-time experimental mode called "Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol" launches. This strategic mode resembles auto-chess gameplay, allowing six players to customize hero builds before competing against each other.

Looking ahead, NetEase confirms seasonal adjustments beginning with Season 3 - reducing duration from 3 to 2 months and increasing hero releases from bi-monthly to monthly.
Marvel Rivals continues expanding its roster and refining gameplay across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
