Microsoft has officially announced the Wave 1 lineup for Xbox Game Pass in May 2025. The update, shared on Xbox Wire, includes 12 highly anticipated titles, running through until May 20th. Among these, the standout release is Doom: The Dark Ages, the latest addition to id Software's iconic first-person shooter series. As a Microsoft-owned title, it will be available on Game Pass from day one.

Launching today, May 6th, is Dredge (available on Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S). This single-player fishing adventure offers a sinister twist as players dive into the depths of a mysterious archipelago. The game is now live on Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard. Microsoft describes it as:

"A single-player fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent. Sell your catch, upgrade your boat, and dredge the depths for long-buried secrets. Explore a mysterious archipelago and discover why some things are best left forgotten."

On May 7th, several notable titles join the Game Pass lineup. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (available on Cloud, Console, and PC) arrives on Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard. Also launching on the same day are Dungeons of Hinterberg (Console), Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn (Xbox Series X|S), and Metal Slug Tactics (Console), all now accessible via Game Pass Standard.

Another significant addition comes on May 8th with Revenge of the Savage Planet (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S). Available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, this title launches on day one. The game is described as:

"Set in a future disrupted by corporate greed, you find yourself stranded in space. To seek revenge on your former employer and return home, you’ll need to explore every corner, collect upgrades, and uncover hidden mysteries."

The same day, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed (Cloud, Console, and PC) joins Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard. Players can team up with the famous Turtle brothers to battle crime and uncover an epic tale of justice and chaos.

On May 13th, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 (Cloud and Console) returns to Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass Standard. Known for its intense cooperative gameplay, the game features a brand-new enemy faction, updated career paths, talent trees, and more.

The main highlight of the month arrives on May 15th with Doom: The Dark Ages. As a prequel to the critically acclaimed Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal, it brings a cinematic story to the Doom universe. Players can jump into the boots of the Doom Slayer in this dark medieval battle against Hell. The Premium Upgrade offers early access, campaign DLC, and additional content.

The following day, May 16th, sees the release of Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo (Cloud, Console, and PC) on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. This papercraft adventure invites players to explore the quirky world of Limbo, where souls repeat their days in a time loop.

Wrapping up the May 2025 Wave 1 lineup on May 20th are two simulation games: Firefighting Simulator: The Squad and Police Simulator: Patrol Officers. Both titles are available across Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard.

Additionally, Microsoft has announced the titles leaving the Game Pass library on May 15th. Members can use their subscription discount to purchase these games and keep them in their personal collection.
