If you grew up with Xbox like I did, transitioning to PC gaming might seem unlikely—but that’s exactly what happened to me. With Steam sales offering constant deals on new titles, I never felt the need to explore Game Pass seriously. Even though I knew it existed and occasionally featured big-name games, it just didn’t feel like a worthwhile investment... until recently.

The surprise launch of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on Game Pass—developed by Virtuos—was something I couldn't ignore. While not exactly a secret, its arrival still felt shocking. And right behind it comes Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the stylish debut from Sandfall Interactive drawing heavy inspiration from classic JRPGs. As someone who lives and breathes RPGs, Microsoft, I have to say—you finally got my attention.

Oblivion Remastered officially launched across PC, consoles, and Game Pass on April 22. Like most fans, I spent the day downloading the game and the night reliving the iconic soundtrack. The remaster includes updated character models, enhanced combat animations, and improved visual effects. Though over five new voice actors were brought in, Virtuos retained much of the original charm—including those famously quirky dialogue lines.

Priced at $49.99, the base edition includes all original DLC, while a deluxe version is available for an extra $10.

Meanwhile, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 marks the debut title from French developer Sandfall Interactive. With a Metacritic score of 92 and IGN awarding it a glowing 9/10, the game has already earned praise for its narrative depth and design, being described as "a true modern throwback." Its art style and interface bring back memories of the Persona series, while early gameplay footage showcases one of the most visually appealing turn-based combat systems I've seen in years.

Also priced at $49.99 at launch, Expedition 33 was initially promoted as the highlight of April’s Game Pass lineup. However, the unexpected release of Oblivion Remastered somewhat overshadowed its debut.

Still, from my perspective, we’re getting two incredible experiences—and Game Pass makes accessing both far more affordable. Instead of spending around $100 on two new titles, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now the only problem is figuring out when I’ll take a break from gaming to see sunlight again.

There’s even more great content coming to Game Pass in 2025. Titles like Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed are joining the service, alongside evergreen hits such as GTA V and the full Call of Duty lineup. No matter your taste, there really seems to be something for everyone.

Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now

Game Pass Ultimate starts at $19.99/month, granting access to the entire library across console, PC, and cloud gaming. If you're strictly a PC gamer, the standard Game Pass tier costs $9.99/month. There's also the Game Pass Standard at $14.99/month and Game Pass Core at $9.99/month, though these tiers don't include day-one releases.

The last price increase occurred in July 2024, and given the recent influx of high-profile titles, another hike later this year wouldn’t be surprising.

While there are no active Game Pass promotions at the moment, purchasing a three-month subscription could lock you into the current rate before any potential increases.
