Hanafuda Koi-Koi: A Classic Japanese Card Game
Hanafuda Koi-Koi is a traditional Japanese card game. This guide explains the English rules.
Koi-Koi (こいこい), meaning "come again" or "once more," is a popular two-player game played using Hanafuda cards (Japanese playing cards).
The objective is to create specific card combinations, known as "yaku," faster than your opponent. Players collect cards into a point pile by matching cards in their hand or drawn from a deck with cards already on the table. After forming a yaku, a player can choose to stop and score points or continue ("koi-koi") to accumulate more yaku and higher points. While individual card values don't directly impact the score, they're useful for identifying potential yaku.
